This website is kind of a work in progress since I launched it in 2019, if I remember right. But 2026 is the year when I’ll have a more settled and hopefully better online presence.
It’s been a while since I’ve published anything new here, but, as you may guess, I have a good reason :). Of course, there is always a good reason why we postpone or delay doing things.
How I got to be one of Rick Steves’ tour guides in Romania
Working with Rick Steves is the ultimate test of one’s guiding skills, and thanks to Ciprian Slemco, I got to do it.
I’ll always remember the evening when Ciprian called me and put me through with Cameron Hewitt, Rick’s co-writer. Despite his very tight schedule, Cameron agreed to meet with me in Bucharest. Maybe he just wanted to thank Ciprian for all his help
The beginning :)
Sorting files on my laptop, most of which are related to my work as a tour guide, quickly turns into a walk down memory lane. So, let’s start with the beginning :).
In the summer of 2015, I took a leap of faith and ended my 11-year career as a journalist. It was the most terrifying and exciting thing I have ever done.
Why a tour guide? Why deliver only private, tailor-made tours to foreign tourists?
